3floz has teamed up with ZoomSystems to roll out 25 fully automated retail stores starting this week across US airports, including Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, New York JFK and Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Founded by Kate Duff and Alexi Mintz in 2010, 3floz offers products from over 50 prestige beauty, grooming and personal care brands in TSA-friendly sizes on its website, 3floz.com.
The product selection for the initial airport stores will be a mix of core, must-have often forgotten items such as sunscreen, hairspray and toothpaste, and novelty products such as 3floz’s popular Essentials travel kits and other giftable items.
Top brands in the stores include Malin + Goetz, Supergoop!, Air Repair, Murad, David Kirsch Wellness Jack Black, Herban Essentials, Anthony for Men, Help Remedies, Ole Henriksen, Yes to Carrots, Philip B, Blow, Avene, Burt’s Bees, Klorane, and Dr. Dennis Gross.
“We created 3floz for people who want to look and feel their best wherever they are. Yes it’s about beauty, grooming and personal care products, but it’s also the peace of mind in knowing you have your necessities when you’re on-the-go,” Duff explained. “We deliver same-day in Manhattan, and direct to hotels nationwide. Now by being in airports we are physically there, with instant gratification, when our customers need us most.”
Mintz added: “This expansion is a logical next step in our strategy to provide our customers a curated selection of travel products directly at their point of travel. It’s the convenience of what we offer and where we offer it that will keep discerning travellers loyal to our brand.”
ZoomSystems President and CEO Jack Lawrence said the company is excited to build an automated retail channel with 3floz. “They’ve developed a unique product offering that not only addresses the needs of the traveller, but offers some of the best brands in the world. Deploying the 3floz ZoomShops throughout the airports will provide customers [with] convenience and choice of their favourite products that in the past were left at home. Our automated retail solution will give 3floz the flexibility, the visibility and the profitability for many years to come.”
Frequent travellers Kate Duff and Alexi Mintz conceptualised 3floz in 2009 when they got tired of either arriving at the airport two hours early to check a bag, or trying to find all their favourite products in TSA-friendly sizes.
The privately funded company claims that its website 3floz.com has grown immensely in three years through social media, press attention and strategic partnerships with virtually no paid advertising.
Founded in 2002 and based in San Francisco, California, ZoomSystems claims to be the technology and services leader in the automated retail channel. ZoomShops are custom-branded automated, self-service retail stores designed to offer the convenience of online shopping combined with the immediate gratification of traditional retail.
The ZoomShop network has grown to over 1,000 locations in airports, malls, resorts, military bases and retail stores across the US, Europe and Japan. Top brand and retail partners include Best Buy, Apple, Macy’s, Proactiv and Media-Markt.
